As Sustainability Director for BASF activities in North America, Charlene Wall-Warren partners with business and functional leaders across the company to identify new opportunities to drive sustainable solutions through chemistry. BASF products and solutions contribute to conserving resources, ensuring nutrition and improving quality of life in industries as varied as construction, automotive and consumer goods. In North America, BASF has more than 16,600 employees and sales of $18.5 billion (USD) in 2012. Charlene has worked for over 10 years in various roles that have enabled BASF to combine economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. She currently leads efforts around business strategy, branding and communications, and engaging key internal and external stakeholders. Charlene also serves on the Board of Directors of The Sustainability Consortium, a multi-stakeholder initiative driving sustainability in consumer goods value chains.
During her more than twenty years with BASF, Charlene has led efforts in Strategic Business Development, Life Cycle Assessment, Consumer Goods Packaging, and Project Management and Process Design for large capital investments. She has actively engaged around sustainability in many industries, including serving on the Board and as the Inaugural Chair of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Center for Sustainable Technology Practices (2006-2008), as a key contributor to the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, a Chair for TSC’s Household and Personal Care industry sector, and Sustainable Brands corporate member. She has been in her current role since 2013.
Charlene Wall-Warren holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University.
