Nelson Switzer is a Director and Leader of the Sustainable Business Solutions practice for PwC Canada. As a sustainability and business management strategist, he focuses on identifying and opening profitable opportunities that also preserve natural, social and economic capital.
By demonstrating the interaction between business, the environment and the community, Nelson pin-points the real issues and works to find the real solutions – solutions that actually help companies to operate and profit. His areas of expertise include sustainability and corporate responsibility strategy and tactics, stakeholder engagement and negotiation, reporting and disclosure, governance and risk management, and investment methodology and policy development.
Nelson has over 15 years of experience working with and advising organizations in the natural resources, finance, energy, real estate, asset management, not-for-profit and consumer goods sectors. Prior to joining PwC, Nelson held a number of senior corporate positions, including President and Chief Sustainability Officer at asherleaf consulting inc., Head of Sustainability at Centrica North America and Senior Manager, Environmental Affairs at the Royal Bank of Canada.
Nelson holds a B.Sc. Degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Masters in Environmental Engineering & Sustainable Development from the University of Toronto. He has received climate change certifications from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and the Climate Reality Project (formerly Al Gore’s The Climate Project), and is a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. Nelson currently lives in Toronto with his wife and two sons.
