Sarwo Handayani holds Bachelor Degree in Architecture from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Master Degree in Administration from the University of Indonesia.
Ms. Handayani held several key managerial posts prior to the appointment as Deputy Governor of Jakarta for Spatial Planning and Environment in 2013. Ms. Handayani chaired the Bureau for City Facilities Administration in 2001 and the City Parks Agency in 2003. The Governor of Jakarta then appointed Ms. Handayani as Assistant of City Secretary for Development and Environment in 2008. During her tenure as Head of the Board for Regional Development Planning from 2010 to 2013, Ms. Handayani was the key person in the Joko Widodo administration in charge for the formulation of the Medium-term Regional Development Plan 2013-2017. The mission accomplished where the Plan was ratified by the City Council as Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2013.
